I just Noticed on the main Website. Could anyone Elaborate on this ( Batteries not included maybe ) lol -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ReflectedLightEntertainment Retro Games Ltd., Don't be too cheap. Don't sell products people can't use without having to order additional parts. This will limit your sales because most of the target consumers have those for specific products they have or its in a box buried deep in the attic, garage, or closet so they aren't going to spend the time to get it. Supply with power supply for UK/European market and U.S. and other markets accordingly. They address this issue all the time in the RC market for RC aircrafts/drones made in China. They'll supply a power supply with adapter as needed for U.S. and problem solved. If it uses wall outlet power, always supply a power supply adapter. It's bad practice to sell a computer product (which this is) without a power supply. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pete Nintendo's recent NES and SNES mini devices didn't include a power supply either. They are powered by a USB power supply, of which you probably already have 5 for charging your mobile devices. It certainly has not hurt sales and no-one is complaining about it. Good for the environment too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ReflectedLightEntertainment [2]Pete So what. People care about having things work straight out of the box from day one. Sure, we have had dozens of 5v, 9v, and 12v DC/AC Adapters with the barrel plug. It makes no difference. Sure, people have 5v USB charging adapters but you have to have ones rated for 1.0 to 2.0 Amps for devices like this. Some of the USB adapters are only 500 mA and is for charging the built in battery not running the device off it or the device has to be consuming power within the 5v @ 500mAh rating. Considering Nintendo's is deliberately under-supplying the demand and attention isn't on the lack of ac adapter. Point is, why be overly cheap by making someone have to unplug and disconnect their router or whatever so they can use that power adapter or have to go out and spend more money than it would cost Retro Games Ltd to include it due to bulk order discounts they would get by ordering 1000s. If it cost only $10 as the local best buys or whatever, it would cost these guys maybe $2.50 ordering them in high volume. Maybe, $5 at most. I can get them from Jameco for around $2.50 to $10.00 depending on what I want to supply. Keep in mind, Jameco marked up from what they paid so they have their profit margin. Commodore 64 computers were supplied with power supplies, why not be at least authentic in that it is supplied with a power supply. We only hope they work better than Commodore's early power supplies for the C64. Lets just make sure we don't over cheapen. Provide the power supply so people aren't having to go out and buy one even though they probably have 5 of them and all of them are being used to charge their other mobile devices. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wombstar That's the least of my problems... the bloody thing wont even connect to my telly, i'm going to buy a new telly!!! It's ridiculous ;( -------------------------------------------------------------------------- quatermass I did ask in another thread ... what's your make and model ? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wombstar Hi, sorry must have missed that, not sure off the top of my head but i'll check as a soon as i get home. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sian i would hope that the c64 deserves its own psu. not having all that u need to begin in some cases is cutting out a new user and customer base . you need to sell to both new and current fans and that means a psu with thec64 . -------------------------------------------------------------------------- kevhol What voltage and how much current does this supply need to be able to provide? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- quatermass Off hand I don't know exactly but the USB lead is supplied so your phone charger should be fine ... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lordling In most cases you can just use the USB port on your TV, my 8 year old TV works fine with my NES and SNES. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- quatermass [3]Lordling In most cases you can just use the USB port on your TV, my 8 year old TV works fine with my NES and SNES Yes that's true !! Never thought of that .. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- c64mini This is a good thing. I'm sick of having all these excess power supplies lying around everywhere. I don't need more and I also do not want to pay extra for one. The price would be higher, because, of course you have to pay for the ac adapter. So if you need one extra, just buy one, but don't force people to pay extra for sth they don't want or don't need. I like that, this is more customer friendly and way better for the environment. Also, I'm pretty sure that this will also work directly off the TV. My (S)NES minis can also directly be powered via the TV's USB out. No need for an extra AC adapter anyways. The only thing that bothers me, is that it still uses the outdated micro USB. Guys, it's 2018, USB-C is standard now and has been for at least a year. I am actually not buying products anymore that still use outdated connectors. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- quatermass [4]c64mini I'm pretty sure that this will also work directly off the TV. My (S)NES minis can also directly be powered via the TV's USB out. No need for an extra AC adapter anyways. Pretty sure USB-C Output on a TV isn't that common though is it ? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- c64mini [5]quatermass Right, haven't seen many TVs with USB-C. On monitors it's common though today. But you do not need a USB-C connector on your TV to power your device. An ordinary USB-A output suffices with the right cable. The switch does the same with the pro contoller. However, if the theC64 had a USB-C connector that also supports displayport, you could connect it to your USB-C enabled monitor with only one cable for both power and display out. That's the way to go in 2018. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trinket Your USB TV connector usually tops out at only 500mA. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- c64mini [6]Trinket My TV powers my (S)NES minis just fine, although I have to admit, my Raspi 3 retropi regularly gets slowdowns due to insufficient power when powering off the TV. So I connected that to a dedicated 2.5 amps ac adapter. I guess it really depends on the TV you have, and of course the power consumption of the device you have. Also, you really need a good quality cable. I have seen too many cheap cables that are not able to deliver enough power. So keep an eye on that too. It's a shame that too many manufacturers do not implement standards. USB Power Delivery (PD) has been defined back in 2012. Newer versions of this standard incorporate automatic power delivery negotiation. In theory, you should be able to charge and power any USB device from any USB port supporting USB PD, eliminating the need for device specific chargers. So if you buy a new TV (or any USB power device for that matter), look out for USB PD support [7];) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- spannernick1 I can use the adapter from my Denver VPL 120, thats come with one,its a cheap USB record player if your wondering ..
