Multiplayer / Handheld eightball298 Forgive me; I haven't checked in on the progress of the C64 in quite a while, so if these questions have already been addressed, I apologize in advance, but I couldn't find any info after a few basic searches, so I thought I'd just go ahead and post a thread.  1. Af first I thought the C64 Mini was a totally separate product because of how different it looks from the photos from the original IndieGoGo campaign & the old website. Aside from the color, it just looks like a whole different computer. I know there's an answer to this that's probably deserving of a big DUH on my end, but I'm going to have to risk it. Is this just akin to the difference between a concept car & the production model? Has the handheld version been scrapped?  2. The fondest memories I have of my C64 were of the competition with neighbors & friends, playing head2head games or cooperating on 1-player games. We spent countless hours trying to escape Castle Wolfenstein, where one of us operated the keyboard & the other had the joystick. The most attractive addition a modern C64, at least in my opinion, would be the ability to play classic games with my neighbor over the web to replicate that experience even though we're in different states now. There must be something close to this in the works or available with some games...at least tell me I'm not the only one thinking this! Thanks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- tomxp411 The most attractive addition a modern C64, at least in my opinion, would be the ability to play classic games with my neighbor over the web to replicate that experience even though we're in different states now. There is an experimental feature in VICE called NetPlay that allows for some degree of online multiplayer play; as far as I can tell, you both load up your emulators with the same program and VICE somehow synchronizes the systems so you see the same output and each of the two people controls a different virtual joystick. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- eightball298 Unfortunately anything involving emulation is going to be a non-starter. No one else is going to have the patience or technical know-how to fiddle with those things. I've been hoping for a true console-type setup where each of us plugs a box into our TV & connect it to the Internet like our PS4s & then be able to just play. I guess it would really just require more of a demand than will ever exist. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- References Visible links 1. https://community.thec64.com/
