How to Fix TheC64 joystick spannernick1 All it needs is a stronger spring,I opened mine and stretch the spring and added another and its alot better now and more precise now so now when I move left it moves left and not left and up.The older joysticks had a thinker spring and stronger one in them. The spring is under the red plate that looks like a X.see picture below.. [2][IMG] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- spannernick1 I make a video about it soon and show you what i did and how the joystick moves better,it looks like they are using a keyboard spring and it needs to be alot stronger.if you grab one of the old joysticks, you can feel it like when you push it left there is some force pushing agents you pushing it left. Most good joysticks have a spring to keep it straight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- MIK I achieved the same thing using a small washer. Have a look at the topic called, (How to make the joystick work better.) for more info. My only concern is that the screws are tiny and the plastic is weak, not forgetting the longer screw in the stick it's self could be problematic. It may not take much to snap/break the stick with the added stress of closing up some of that slack that it has. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- adgloride [3]MIK this is another thing to dislike about the joystick. The old style ones were easier to open and mess around with. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- MIK [4]adgloride Agreed. Almost all my leafswitch and removable microswitched joysticks from the 1980's have survived being opened up many a time to clean or replace the micro's. They keep going and will do for another 30 years because they used good sized screws with a thread that does really damage the plastic, as long as your careful! You could argue it took them the first 4-5 years of the 80's to perfect this but they mastered durability! Not easy to replace the switches in say a Speed King for example and no amount of cleaning, care and attention will make the early Quick Shot leafswitch joys come good. But yeah, even with the Comp Pro rubber degrading they still work!
