For games required to use the Space button you force me to use the Competition Poo joystick as the virtual keyboard has all buttons except "Space", "Return" and "Backspace" Because of that I can't use a better controller option. And by better I mean every other USB controller known to mankind. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RetroBiker [2]Aneira Those keys are clearly mapped to joystick buttons and listed at the bottom of the virtual keyboard display... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- synchromesh [3]Aneira It's just ridiculous. Not really ... your just not looking -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aneira [4]RetroBiker I'm well aware of that wise guy. Feel free to explain how I am supposed to use those when using another controller? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RetroBiker [5]Aneira I expect the easiest way is to go into BASIC and try your controller’s buttons and see which produce the desired results. Elsewhere on here someone suggested a way of comparing a controller to the joystick in Windows. Running joy.cpl or something. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parcival [6]Aneira I'm well aware of that wise guy. Feel free to explain how I am supposed to use those when using another controller? If that's the kind of crap attitude you have when someone takes the time to respond to you, well you can just do one. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aneira None of the buttons of the controller I wish to use are mapped to the space key, which is why I requested those keys to be part of the virtual keyboard and not just mapped. I have a really hard time understanding why that is such a foolish request to your eyes. Maybe you're just that kind of guy. There is no reason whatsoever those last 3 keys shouldn't be part of the virtual keyboard. It would do no harm, only ease the options we have. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Darbyram [7]Aneira Is using a usb keyboard not an option? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RetroBiker [8]Aneira There is information in the FAQ ([9]https://thec64.com/faq/) about using other controllers and what to expect buttons to be mapped to. If you already found that the buttons definitely don't map while the virtual keyboard is visible, then I'd suggest reporting the details of your controller to Retro Games LTD so that they can investigate and maybe provide a fix for that model in a future update. To be honest, I thought it was an excellent idea to map those features to buttons. If you are typing something in, it is much easier to hit a button whenever you need space, delete or return, rather than have to navigate away to find them and then navigate back to continue. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- scottyhp [10]Aneira You sure are salty. RetroBiker didn't say anything about your request being foolish and looked like he/she was trying to help. Why don't you just return your C64, wise guy? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aneira [11]Darbyram That is an option yes. Not the lean-back-in-the-armchair option I was hoping for. Maybe in time something like hakchi on the NES Mini will be available for people like I wanting maximum comfort. Afterall that should be the point of the C64 Mini in the first place. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jammet Perhaps at some point, a full virtual keyboard will be available, who knows. On some consoles like the Nintendo Switch, some of the buttons reveal extra keys, when they aren't mapped to them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- References Visible links 1. https://community.thec64.com/ 2. https://community.thec64.com/d/242/1 3. https://community.thec64.com/d/242/1 4. https://community.thec64.com/d/242/2 5. https://community.thec64.com/d/242/4 6. https://community.thec64.com/d/242/4 7. https://community.thec64.com/d/242/6 8. https://community.thec64.com/d/242/6 9. https://thec64.com/faq/ 10. https://community.thec64.com/d/242/6 11. https://community.thec64.com/d/242/7
