Reading from USB needs to be like your using a SD2IEC..

   ..And with True Drive emulation,maybe able to read Tap files too,There was
   a device that could do both on the real C64,it was called a C64
   Infinity,it could read like a SD2IEC and a Tapunio.I have a SD2IEC and a
   Tapunio of my real C64.

   Why,because then you have access to the whole USB Stick or Sd Card,can use
   browsers like CBM Browser to mount D64 images,or even run a prg file
   outside of a D64 image.SD2IEC can read D81 images too and they can hold a
   lot more data.

   Thats how the UK1541 files system should be like,but its not.. [2]:(
