If You Are Having a problem with USB Pen Drives,Use a SD Card and Reader spannernick1 If you having a problem with USB Pen Drives (USB Stick),You can use a Anker 3.0 SD Card Reader, then you can use a SD card or a Micro SD Card. This is the one I am using.. [2]Anker SD Card [3]https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?from=R40&trksid=p2386202.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&nkw=3.0+Anker+SD+Micro&sacat=0 I got mine from ebay and it cost me £9.99,but I am glad I did,I got it for my Nintendo 3DS but never used it,but I knew I would use it for something, thats why I keep everything now. I use a 2GB SD Card with it,It from My Nintendo DSi XL,Its a Toshiba SD Card 2GB.You can remove the SD Card and change the file you want to load in Basic, while you are Basic, yes and then put it back and the load the game you want without exiting Basic.,it's because you not removing the SD Card reader,so its not resetting the USB connection with TheC64 Mini. When you remove a Pen Drive it thinks the device is removed so when you put it back in,it can't read it no more until you restart Basic. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- redbuddha [4]spannernick1 I have just bought one of those. Still no joy :-( I have tried six different usb flash drives all formatted to FAT32. There is no hope. I have tried everything. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archon I have tried three different pen drives without success. A sony memory stick PRO duo with 2 GB which i used for a PSP before works fine ( using the reader for the stick as well ). -------------------------------------------------------------------------- adgloride I used a sandisk 8gb cruizer blade flash drive and had no problems. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- MIK Things may change after the update is released, (today 5th April 2018) but as of this moment memory sticks need to be USB3. Classic SD cards do work. They also work with worthless adapters made from yesteryear while on the end of a USB extension lead..., so the shame can be hidden from view. [5];) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- AndyF [6]MIK I have some USB1.1 sticks (now they ARE old!!) - and these work fine USB2 sticks are also working fine for me -------------------------------------------------------------------------- MIK Good for you I guess... Official Scan Disk sticks USB 1GB (old) and USB2 16GB (XBOX360 compatible) as well as an old 16GB Cruzer with transfer speed of 25MB a sec don't here, the list goes on. The amount of people that say their USB stick doesn't work which are not USB3 are notably LaRgE. For now USB3 Scan Disk for the win. [7]:) EDIT: Things may change after today's update. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- jstrudwick [8]MIK Yeah, I tried some older Kingston, Verbatim and Corsair 8GB sticks, none of which worked. I opened a brand new 32GB USB 3.0 Toshiba drive and it worked. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gurce [9]redbuddha From my most recent investigations on this matter, simply formatting to FAT32 is not proving to be enough. The USB needs to have an MBR (master boot record) on it. This can be a bit finicky to accomplish. Some people have suggested to use a 3rd party formatting tool such as: [10]https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ Perhaps give that one a try and let us know how it goes. I've jotted down other failure theories and notes here: [11]https://gurce.net/c64mini/doku.php?id=usb_memory_stick_problems -------------------------------------------------------------------------- MIK [12]MIK After trying a few older ones which didn't work I tried a SanDisk Ultra Flair USB3 16 GB - Silver and it works fine. It does however get warm after a while being aluminum on the out side... I have it on the end of a 6inch usb extension lead so to save wear on the ports of the machine. Look about as I picked one up for £10 PC World Example: [13]https://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/data-storage/usb-flash-drives/sandisk-ultra-flair-usb-3-0-memory-stick-16-gb-silver-black-10142340-pdt.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------- References Visible links 1. https://community.thec64.com/ 3. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2386202.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=3.0+Anker+SD+Micro&_sacat=0 4. https://community.thec64.com/d/204/1 6. https://community.thec64.com/d/204/4 8. https://community.thec64.com/d/204/6 9. https://community.thec64.com/d/204/8 10. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ 11. https://gurce.net/c64mini/doku.php?id=usb_memory_stick_problems 12. https://community.thec64.com/d/176/53 13. https://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/data-storage/usb-flash-drives/sandisk-ultra-flair-usb-3-0-memory-stick-16-gb-silver-black-10142340-pdt.html
