Loading games Goclastninja Can anyone tell me the exact method for adding games have tried everything including the exact instructions givin by the dev on this site..is it even possible or is this another no mans sky situation -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gab75 A suggestion... wait just a little longer until the release of firmware 1.0.7 ! [2]:) Version 1.0.7 – Planned Changes: – Choose from a selection of disks on USB – Allow multi-disk files/games to be accessed – Other update features to be confirmed ASAP! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- spannernick1 [3]Gab75 I hope they add the disk loading icon when you load games from USB,its show when you play one of the games pre installed. That would be good and then you can see it loading from the USB. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- spannernick1 I find it don't work with all pen drives,I use a Anker 3.0 SD Card reader and a 2gb SD card from my Nintendo DSi and it works fine, make sure you have formatted it to fat32 even if its is that already, reformat it,I used Mini Tools Partition Wizard [4]https://www.partitionwizard.com ,its free to use ,I removed the partition and made a new Fat32 partition on my SD card and then put the file on the SD Card and it worked first time,I do have 2 pen drives but they didn't work, the make of them are Integral, one is 2gb and the other one is 256 mb and TheC64 Mini can't read the file on them,it in my latest video on here .. [5]:D I shows Frank Bruno's Boxing working. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gab75 [6]spannernick1 Personally I'd prefer a "virtual green light" that simulates the access led of the floppy disk drive... [7];) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- johnnyhotrocks The 1.07 update cant come any quicker LOL. I can get games to show up with the commands from the usb stick and next time i reboot and despite nothing changed the list will now show readonly and refuses to display the proper content (games name for the load command) Turn the machine off a few times and the proper file names return again. I know all this will eventually get ironed out but i think they should have held off with the release until they had a fully functional working product.....oh and a joystick worthy of the name competition pro and not just the looks of one. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- synchromesh [8]johnnyhotrocks oh and a joystick worthy of the name competition pro . Ahh but its officially called a " Retro Style Joystick " Nothing more .. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- SimonPlumbe Has anyone found a brand of USB sticks that work consistently? I've heard the same about some sticks working and some not. I'm having problems right now but I'd like to get some clarity as I'm writing a review at the moment for one of my websites so I'd like to be able to offer advice to potential buyers in it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Braindome Does anybody know if there's a plan for being able to remove the pre-loaded games? For me, the majority of them are garbage. I'd really like to have only the games I like on the carousel. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [9]Braindome you are not selling this c64 mini to me and Wanted Monty Mole is not crap. It's bloody hard I remember but not crap. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- synchromesh [10]Braindome Does anybody know if there's a plan for being able to remove the pre-loaded games? For me, the majority of them are garbage. I'd really like to have only the games I like on the carousel. No plans and very unlikely ...Hackable at a later date .. Perhaps -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Braindome [11]W12MODS Hey! There are some great games on there. I'm certainly not saying they're all crap! I've really enjoyed playing Paradroid and Boulder Dash for example. Just thinking that if there's a plan to make it easier to add additional games, it follows that you'll be able to remove them again, and therefore it might be possible to remove some of the less desirable pre-installed examples. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [12]synchromesh definitely as retro games could get sued from owners of the games. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [13]synchromesh that said there are loads of Hewson and Gremlin and Thalmus etc games not included so could retro games add those with firmware? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [14]Braindome I owned five of the games included Boulderdash, Wanted Monty Mole, impossible mission, Nebulus and Zynaps all amazing. Can't wait to play the other 59 games. Like I said the only hope is retro games adds the games from the software houses they have got the rights from. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Braindome [15]W12MODS I'd be surprised if they add any more games, but they've announced that a firmware update will make it easy to add your own games. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [16]Braindome it could come down to owner pressure I don't think they realise how many they are going to sell yet it's going to be big. If they play their cards right and add games that the yanks know for the American release they will score big time. I have to admit I am clueless when it comes to downloading anything to a usb stick so anything would be a help. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Braindome [17]W12MODS Well I suggest you wait for the firmware update, and then I'm sure somebody here (including me) can help to walk you through adding games. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [18]Braindome they will never add film or TV related games as there is another level of copyrights to overcome I had Platoon and Ghostbusters. I might take you up on the offer for help and I have to go to the library to even use a PC. We have a forum here that retro games are replying to so we can badger them for things if we stick together. I think the joystick issue is their biggest priority just read another Amazon review (mine is coming from them) where someone has returned there's because of the joystick. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Braindome [19]W12MODS sounds like you're going to have trouble even installing firmware updates [20]🙁 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [21]Braindome yeah maybe I do actually own two usb sticks but just been given them with films on to watch through my xbox 360. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [22]Braindome actually the xbox 360 has internet access would it be possible to download to usb through that? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [23]Next Page » References Visible links 1. https://community.thec64.com/ 3. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/2 4. https://www.partitionwizard.com/ 6. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/4 8. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/5 9. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/9 10. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/9 11. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/10 12. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/11 13. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/11 14. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/14 15. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/15 16. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/16 17. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/17 18. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/18 19. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/19 21. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/20 22. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/20 23. https://community.thec64.com/d/162?page=2&id=162-loading-games [1]The C64 Community Loading... I am returning after each line and following to the letter - nothing. Sometimes the C64 mini lists "Readonly" other times it reads a file "THEC64 followed by a load of spaces " and 01 2A. I have tried naming the file - the full name, as in what the file is listed as - no success. I have put in quotes the exact first part as in THEC64 again - no success. I literally have no clue whatsoever as to how to get a file running on this device. This is very disappointing. Literally one video showing how this is done may get to the bottom of the issue, but we have nothing from the developers, bar a questionable page of instructions. I see one person put up a video, but in their video they included a star symbol instead of the dollar symbol and for me at least this only resulted in syntax error. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RetroBiker [5]oldskool Have you checked the power rating of your charger? A number of people have reported problems when supplying lower than spec current. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Braindome [6]oldskool sounds like your download files are bad. I had a problem with the copy of Ballblazer I downloaded. I then found the file on another website, and it loaded with no trouble. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [7]RetroBiker are you an employee of retro games? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- oldskool [8]RetroBiker 5V 1amp Apple USB plug. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RetroBiker [9]W12MODS No. I have no connection with them at all. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [10]Braindome I was sent a link to a certain French one is that OK? It doesn't have Go Go the Ghost though and I have to have that it was the best £1.99 I ever spent. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- johnnyhotrocks [11]Braindome just to say i can get a game to display the proper command names for loading games 1 time and then the next boot up and you try with out changing a single thing the list option shows a readonly file name which wont work, turn off and seconds later the proper game file name will re appear and it goes on like this work not working ect...its purely random so it seems. hopefully when the update arrives things sort themselves out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- oldskool [12]Braindome No the files are perfect. They are d64 files and I loaded them into C64 Forever to check them and they all worked without a hitch. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Braindome [13]W12MODS C64.com seems generally very good. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [14]RetroBiker no probs it wasn't a dig more a compliment on your knowledge I might need it when mine arrives Tuesday. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RetroBiker [15]W12MODS Haha. Thanks! I've just read every bit on the website and here many times when I was waiting for mine to arrive. If I can help, I will... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [16]Braindome they are Zips and that is another whole kettle of fish do you have to unzip them to get at the d64? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [17]johnnyhotrocks thanks for the email I will try it on Tuesday my local library is never gonna be so busy trying to download games. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Braindome [18]W12MODS yes, you'll need to unzip them. I didn't even notice as my Mac does that automatically. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [19]RetroBiker cheers but you will have to rename RetroScooter and get a Vespa or Lambretta ☺ -------------------------------------------------------------------------- spannernick1 Does anyone have a usb sd card reader, try that,Mines works, you might have better luck. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS I have a SanDisk 16gb and a Verbatim 4gb usb sticks I hope they work. If i can't download wizball you lot are in trouble ☺ -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RetroBiker [20]oldskool I’d suggest trying a higher rated adapter and see if that helps. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [21]« Previous Page [22]Next Page » References Visible links 1. https://community.thec64.com/ 2. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/20 3. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/20 4. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/22 5. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/24 6. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/24 7. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/25 8. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/25 9. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/26 10. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/27 11. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/27 12. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/27 13. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/28 14. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/29 15. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/30 16. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/31 17. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/32 18. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/33 19. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/34 20. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/40 21. https://community.thec64.com/d/162?page=1&id=162-loading-games 22. https://community.thec64.com/d/162?page=3&id=162-loading-games [1]The C64 Community Loading... I'm sure it was throttling on my Mini when I used 1amps but using a 2amp supply no problems at all. Loving it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RetroBiker [8]W12MODS I’d say 1A is in the grey area. If the adapter is under-performing, then expect things not to be perfect. Adapters are dirt cheap and a 2-3A one would be a worthwhile investment. I’m running mine from a 3A output and it seems fine for what I’m doing so far. Though I haven’t tried any of the fast action stuff, yet... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- spannernick1 Couldn't edit .. lol..here's it is in english...lol... Here is the video of me loading a game on The C64M,I talk about it too,Enjoy,I did this video while I was doing the other and made them in 2 parts cause the video would of been over a hour..[9]:D.. sorry about that W12MODS posted at the same time...lol -------------------------------------------------------------------------- SimonPlumbe I've been using my TV to power the Mini since I got it and had no luck loading D64 images until tonight. I had been using a 2Gb USB stick but swapped over to a 4Gb MicroSD card in a USB adaptor and everything's working fine. Both were FAT32 formatted and everything else was exactly the same as per the instructions on the website so the USB sticks themselves definitely seem to be a contributing factor as well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [10]« Previous Page References Visible links 1. https://community.thec64.com/ 2. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/27 3. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/40 4. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/44 6. https://www.youtube.com/embed/Fyi6d8dZ9Hw 7. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/46 8. https://community.thec64.com/d/162/46 10. https://community.thec64.com/d/162?page=2&id=162-loading-games
