I see credits and I hear music but i 'can't start any game. Thanks Marco -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plzsm [2]danilovic I had this problem and was told over Twitter how to fix (thanks to vinny/ freeze64)there is an extra step that you needafter loadingto press return or space on the virtual keyboard, all the games I had problems with worked after that -------------------------------------------------------------------------- johnnyhotrocks The loading from usb is a mess. I had some games work first time but upon other reboots the loading lists shows readonly as a file name. then another reboot it will show the actual game name to use for the command, VERY frustrating...glad this will be sorted soon FINGERS CROSSED. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Goclastninja I cant get any games to load at all I followed every single step of the instructions on this site and it wont work -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Goclastninja First I renamed a 1541 disk image in THEC64-drive8.d64 then put it on fat32 usb 3'0 drive plugged it in on game selection screen loaded basic typed LOAD"$",8 pressed return then typed in LIST hit return saw the game on the list named the c64 typed LOAD"THEC64",8,1 hit return got a file not found error tried then typing RUN then just got a syntax error in 0. Any ideas anyone ?? Am I doing something wrong -------------------------------------------------------------------------- johnnyhotrocks [3]Goclastninja the game will never be called "thec64" it will more likely be called after the actual game like "chuck egg" for chuckie egg game and the last part of the command line will tend to end with prg if i remember correctly [4]:) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- johnnyhotrocks [5]W12MODS take the game out of the zip and rename it as described on this site. can only have one on the usb though. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- johnnyhotrocks [6]W12MODS it will be a .d64 file only if you downloaded one. you have a few choices but you must pick for now .d64 versions of the games -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [7]johnnyhotrocks which websites provide d64 files only? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Goclastninja Yeah but it says the file must be renamed to THEC64-drive8.d64 it was flimbos quest but I renamed it to that on the usb stick as instructed on this site, -------------------------------------------------------------------------- johnnyhotrocks [8]Goclastninja "Yeah but it says the file must be renamed to THEC64-drive8.d64 it was flimbos quest but I renamed it to that on the usb stick as instructed on this site," yeap thats correct but the command will not list that as the name of the game you need to enter into the loading command.....it will tend to always be closer to the name of the game your trying to play. when you get to the list part it should be similar to the game you have on the usb after you renamed it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Goclastninja Yes it is a d64 file using windows 10 its just named as a 1541 disk image in the description -------------------------------------------------------------------------- johnnyhotrocks [9]W12MODS "which websites provide d64 files only?" Your not allowed to provide those as part of the rules here. But they all have them you just need to look at what your picking from. i'm gathering your trying to load tape files. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [10]johnnyhotrocks my c64 mini doesn't arrive until Tuesday just have no experience with getting d64 images. I had a C64 from 1984 and a C64C from 1990. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- johnnyhotrocks [11]W12MODS your in for a treat....well an almost perfect treat the joystick is disappointing...check out other threads on this site. dont worry about the files as they are planning to fix it with an easier loader soon [12]:) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Goclastninja When I type list the only file showing up on the programme list is the file that I renamed to THEC64 and it just says 01 2a and on the next line says 664 blocks free so thats what I enter and it wont load -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W12MODS [13]johnnyhotrocks does it mean that a game I owned like Go Go the Ghost which was tape only won't be available in d64? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- johnnyhotrocks [14]W12MODS not at all [15]:) like betamax/vhs , tape,cd & records stuff released across multiple formats. wont always be the case but most will be there. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nobleck [16]johnnyhotrocks Plus you can convert various tape images etc to disk images (tutorials can be found on popular search engines) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parcival It's quite easy to create your own .D64 files with whatever games on there you like. Then load them up via the command line. I have about 5 of my fave games on one .D64 file then load them up via the save/load state so I don't have to go through the load"gamename",8,1 [17]:) Like others have said, the info is out there to find out how to do this. It really does take just a few minutes to set up. Regarding USB sticks, just make sure you have formatted as FAT32, I don't think this thing likes NTFS too much. Looking forward to the larger version of the C64 later in 2018 - hopefully a fully-working keyboard. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- References Visible links 1. https://community.thec64.com/ 2. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/1 3. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/6 5. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/5 6. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/8 7. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/10 8. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/11 9. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/14 10. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/16 11. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/17 13. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/19 14. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/20 16. https://community.thec64.com/d/157/21
