It is plugged directly into the TV HDMI port. On the TV, I get no display or sound at all...black screen. If I plug it into my computer monitor, I get display but no sound. No speakers on my monitor otherwise I would just use that option. Any idea how I can get this to work on my tv? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gurce [2]steve Hi steve, not sure what could have happened. The 8-bit guy ran into some problems when he tried it on his TV in his review. It looked like he had some model of samsung tv. At about 5m26s: [3]IFrame Can you share what brand and model your tv is? And which country you're in? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- steve USA. Mine is a Panasonic model TC-L32C3. It is a 2013 model. Not new, but not ancient either. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gurce [4]steve Hmm, perhaps it is for the same reason that the 8-bit guy describes at about 6m50s in the video: "When I talked to the guy in charge of this project about my monitor difficulties he said the most likely cause of the problem is that this is a European version (of the c64 mini) and it operates at 50 Hz. And apparently some of the older North American television sets, even though they are HDMI, they don't work properly at 50 Hz." Given that this might be the case, not sure what can be done at this stage. Hopefully the c64 team can have some suggestions for US ppl in this position. Until then, might just have to keep trying other tv screens/monitors. As for plugging into a monitor and not getting sound, I wonder if there are breakout cables available for hdmi, that split it into a video-only lead for the monitor and audio-only for your stereo/speakers... Extra note: I had a google around just now, such splitters do exist, if there's an electronics store near you that sells such things, grabbing one might be an option. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- computercoder It depends upon the SUPPORTED Video modes of the TV/Monitor. If the 50 Hz mode is NOT supported, you will get a black screen (or whatever the TV/Monitor does for an unsupported mode). I have ONE TV that does not support that mode, but the rest do. I am hoping a future update to the mini will allow another video mode like NTSC/PAL checks. Perhaps a way to determine if the video is connected and displaying - I have no idea the complexity of that. Maybe at least give a way to change it in the setup between which mode is default - assuming you can get it working on a display first! I am also in the USA. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- References Visible links 1. https://community.thec64.com/ 2. https://community.thec64.com/d/123/1 3. https://www.youtube.com/embed/GXXCj5kqPcM 4. https://community.thec64.com/d/123/3
